Ovarian cancer is cancer of the ovaries. Ovarian cancer can invade or shed to nearby organs such as the fallopian tubes and uterus but can also be spread through the lymphatic system to lymph nodes in the pelvis, abdomen, and chest or through the blood stream to the liver and lungs.

CA -125
CA 125 (Cancer Antigen) is a protein that is a so–called tumor marker that is a substance found in greater concentration in tumor cells than in other cells in the body. CA 125 is more present in ovarian cancer cells than in other cells. The CA 125 test measures the amount of CA 125 in the body’s cells from a blood sample to determine if ovarian cancer is present.
The following may be warning signs of an Ovarian Cancer.
- Pressure or pain in the abdomen, pelvis, back, or legs
- A swollen or bloated abdomen
- Nausea, indigestion, gas, constipation, or diarrhea
- Feeling very tired all the time
- Shortness of breath
- Frequent urination
- Unusual vaginal bleeding or in the throat
